April Challenge Covering Something with Clay

1. Counter Top Soap Dispenser by Brenda of BjeeWilson
Born from an ordinary coffee drink bottle, covered with different shapes and textures of polymer clay, and given a new life as a soap or lotion dispenser. Re-using ordinarily discarded glass vessels is my favorite thing to do. I especially enjoy covering them with polymer clay to create a new and innovative item to extend their life.

2. Hand Carved Polymer Clay Covered Glass Vase by Angela of polymerclaycreations  

A while back I saw a video of candle dipping and carving and thought I wanted to try that in clay. Here is my version of hand dipping and carving. I used a 10 inch glass vase and added 5 layers of different colored clays and then carved, cut and twisted it all over.
This is my entry into the PCAGOE monthly challenge. The theme for the month is covering something.

3. Fancy Lantern  by Lisa of HiGirls  

PCAGOE Challenge: Cover something
Pearl white clay with all kinds of detail covers most of this lantern. The glass has fun leafy shapes in tinted translucent clay that glows when a candle is lit inside.

5. Feelin' Groovy Covered Bottle by Betsy of StrebeDesigns

This upcycled bottle was given a new life for the April PCAGOE challenge to cover something with clay.  I wanted to do something unpredictable, nothing neat and lined up and symmetrical. I decided to combine two techniques I recently learned from the Polymer Clay Adventure series http://craftylink.ning.com/get-involved/polymer-clay-adventure.  The techniques involved "Cane Mutiny" with Teresa Pandora Salgado and "Polymer Painting" with Suzanne Ivester.  You can learn more about the process and see more views on my NEW blog at http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/03/feelin-groovy-covered-bottle-simply.html

6. Challenging Challenge Dispenser by Susan of 11BOLDstreet

I wanted a container to dispense sunscreen at our lake trailer, so I made a mokume gane block in the olive and blues of that color scheme. Deciding to cover a plastic shave lotion bottle was rather a task - it's melting point was just at the edge of polymer's curing temp. The bottom deformed a bit, and I had to screw the cap onto a hot base to reform the threads. But, all is well... stamping ink and metallic Lumiere paint adds a bit of bling. The large indents are part of the bottle design, and I chose to accentuate them. The silver "wave" element at the top will match the new bathroom silver backsplash.

7. Covered Glass Bottle Journey by Linda of Claymation3d

This polymer clay covered glass bottle journey began with a Skinner blend foundation of clay. Glass cabochons, more blends of clay and textures were worked over the top. Splashes of color were inserted using inks, micro beads, freshwater pearls and a few real shells.

8. Tissue Cover by Marcy of marcympc

A tissue cover created for my home trying out several techniques I hadn't used before. Purple and turquoise plus a nature theme.

9. Green Tea Pot by Berit of ClayImages
Small Tea Pot covered with my original polymer clay cane designs. Sanded smooth and varnished. My entry into the PCAGOE April challenge.

10. Dragonfly Journal by Arlene of Ashpaints
This challenge piece came to mind because the theme was Cover Something with Polymer Clay. So I decided to create a "cover" for a journal. This piece incorporates one of my favorite sayings "Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things in Life" and a beautiful dragonfly stamped design. It is layered on top to two textured panels and for a whimsical touch I added flowers. The color scheme was copper patina. The journal itself measures 8 inches x 6 inches.
